A look at the week that was and a little insight into the #bloglife, sharing things I just can’t share anywhere else! Highlights of the week My decision to take a bit of time off and give back to myself was a very good one! This week I’m feeling much more energised and refreshed. If you missed last week’s TWTW, my anxiety has resurfaced with a vengeance recently and brought a little depression with it for good measure! Thanks, anxiety, you’re the best! Again, I made myself clean the house last Friday, getting everything clean, tidy and in order. On Saturday morning, Matt and I got up early and went to the coast for a swim and just to spend some time laying out in the warm, morning sunshine, soaking in the fresh, salty air. It’s truly the best feeling in the world and it makes me so happy.  I’ll be going with Matt again tomorrow morning, so if you want to see the beaches we visit and get a dose of beach love yourself, I’ll post some updates on my Instagram’s Insta-Stories for you. All the photos in TWTW this week are from our beach trip last Saturday – so [...]

The best (and worst) places to stay in Singapore

Given it’s an island, you’re probably thinking, “I can’t really go wrong with choosing where to stay in Singapore.” To be fair, that’s pretty accurate. But, as someone who has lived in Singapore and spent a lot of time there as a local and a traveller, I can honestly say there are locations that are better than others. If you want to make the most of your time in Singapore, it’s important to choose the best spot to base yourself! To help, here are my thoughts on the very best and worst places to stay in Singapore. Note: This guide is aimed at travellers to Singapore, so I’m going to use landmarks, well-known areas and MRT stations as reference points. For example, I’ll use Changi Airport and Orchard Road, as opposed to suburb names like Bukit Timah or Tanglin. Images are from all over Singapore and may not directly align with the destination mentioned.  Watch our first-timers guide to Singapore video Visit the Little Grey Box YouTube channel here…  Changi Airport If you’re visiting Singapore for a holiday, basing yourself at Changi Airport isn’t a good idea. Swimming With Turtles in Rarotonga: Sea Scooter Safari With Ariki Adventures

by Tasha Amy @ Backpackers Wanderlust

Fulfilling Bucket List Dreams: Swimming With Turtles In Rarotonga With Ariki Adventures When I was planning my adventure to Rarotonga I never thought I would end up swimming with turtles. The popular things to do there often include quad biking, buggying and taking a lagoon cruise. Though, rocking up and chatting with the friendly team at Ariki Adventures I was amazed that they offer a sea scooter safari tour swimming with turtles in Rarotonga! Now, you may or may not know that I have a deep appreciation for turtles. When I first discovered my love of travel I was actually doing volunteer conservation work with turtles in Costa Rica. We would take notes of the turtles that came into shore, look after the hatchery and patrol the beaches. I gained a whole new appreciation for this animal and the daily struggles they go through to survive. Checking In With Ariki Holidays The morning of the sea scooter safari we headed to the main offices of Ariki Holidays down at the popular Muri Beach. Here we checked in, are given a poster with details about the hawksbill turtles and green turtles which we would be seeing and signed a waiver form. […]

7 Reasons why bloggers should be paid

7 Reasons why bloggers should be paid

by Little Grey Box @ Little Grey Box

From the outside looking in, the life of a travel blogger can seem quite glamorous – especially when perusing perfect photos posted on social media. But one of the biggest challenges I face is making money. It can be really hard to turn down unpaid work when it’s presented because you know if you say no, the brand will likely find someone else to do it and you will have missed out on creating fresh content and building a relationship with a new client. As the fourth post in my ‘For Brands‘ series, I thought I’d share a few of the reasons why brands should pay bloggers, influencers and creators. I also want to say this – I recognise the work we do doesn’t even begin to compare to the work other people do, such as nurses, service men and women and first responders, and I’m cautious of this post coming across as a whinge. Instead, I just wanted to share some of my experiences and what I’ve learned since leaving my job. It’s taken a long time to feel like we deserve to be paid, especially because we love our jobs so much. I’m hoping this post shares some insight [...]

That’s how I felt when I woke up last Friday morning. So, I decided to practice a bit of self-care. When all I wanted to do was lay on the couch in my pyjamas, I made myself clean the house, get everything in order, change my sheets, do the laundry I’d been putting off and water the plants. I washed my hair, put all my clothes away, did a face mask and stayed away from my phone and computer all day. Saturday morning, Matt and I woke up at 5am and drove down to the beach. It was overcast but we still went anyway and spent some time swimming, laying on the beach and just soaking in the fresh air. Afterwards, we went to the gym, forcing out [...]
