Highlights of the week I hope you don’t mind, I took a week off writing TWTW last Friday. Do you ever just have one of those weeks where you feel exhausted? Like, you can’t quite get out of bed and you’re really tired and rundown and all your energy has been drained? That’s how I felt when I woke up last Friday morning. So, I decided to practice a bit of self-care. When all I wanted to do was lay on the couch in my pyjamas, I made myself clean the house, get everything in order, change my sheets, do the laundry I’d been putting off and water the plants. I washed my hair, put all my clothes away, did a face mask and stayed away from my phone and computer all day. Saturday morning, Matt and I woke up at 5am and drove down to the beach. It was overcast but we still went anyway and spent some time swimming, laying on the beach and just soaking in the fresh air. Afterwards, we went to the gym, forcing out [...]

7 Reasons why bloggers should be paid

by Little Grey Box @ Little Grey Box

From the outside looking in, the life of a travel blogger can seem quite glamorous – especially when perusing perfect photos posted on social media. But one of the biggest challenges I face is making money. It can be really hard to turn down unpaid work when it’s presented because you know if you say no, the brand will likely find someone else to do it and you will have missed out on creating fresh content and building a relationship with a new client. As the fourth post in my ‘For Brands‘ series, I thought I’d share a few of the reasons why brands should pay bloggers, influencers and creators. I also want to say this – I recognise the work we do doesn’t even begin to compare to the work other people do, such as nurses, service men and women and first responders, and I’m cautious of this post coming across as a whinge. Instead, I just wanted to share some of my experiences and what I’ve learned since leaving my job. It’s taken a long time to feel like we deserve to be paid, especially because we love our jobs so much. I’m hoping this post shares some insight [...]

Guide to Halong Bay Cruises in Vietnam Plus Our Cruise with The Au Co - Independent Travel Cats

Independent Travel Cats

Halong Bay is considered one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Vietnam, and a Halong Bay cruise is a must-do on many travelers' lists. Imagine an emerald bay peppered with about 2,000 tiny vegetation-topped islands which feature numerous caves, lagoons, coves, and coral reefs. This breathtaking UNESCO heritage site has recently received the honor of being named one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the world and is not surprisingly one of the most popular attractions in Vietnam. Most visitors need little convincing to visit, but the array of cruise options can be daunting as hundreds of boats ply across the waters of Halong Bay each day. Cruises range widely in price and companies offer a variety of cruise lengths, itineraries, amenities, and activities. We'll share our tips on how to choose a Halong Bay cruise, answer common questions about Halong Bay cruises, and review our own recent Halong Bay cruise with The Au Co.

This is how to find + approach bloggers about working together

by Little Grey Box @ Little Grey Box

For brands of all shapes and sizes, there are many benefits of working with bloggers, influencers and creators (I’ll just refer to us collectively as creators from this point on). If you missed my last post, you should read, ‘This is why brands really need to work with bloggers.’ While the benefits are clear, the steps on exactly how to work with creators can be a tad murky. To help brands understand how to find and approach us, here’s the second post in my ‘For Brands,’ series, sharing everything I know on the subject! This post is great for brands looking to learn more about how to work with creators but it’s also useful for creators too. You’ll learn what to expect, how a brand might find you and a little insight into best practice. Perfect for newbie bloggers or those wanting to turn their platform into a full-time career/source of income at some point. You need to know what you want Before you even start looking for a creator, you need to have a very clear understanding of what you want. The more organised you are and the better understanding you have of what you want, the more successful it will [...]

It’s truly the best feeling in the world and it makes me so happy.  I’ll be going with Matt again tomorrow morning, so if you want to see the beaches we visit and get a dose of beach love yourself, I’ll post some updates on my Instagram’s Insta-Stories for you.
