Well, we're back. Took off from Delhi at 9:50pm on Sunday and landed in Seattle at 6:55am on Monday. That's only about 9 hours by the clock, but about 20 hours of real-time travel. 


We had a great time, and I wish we could have stayed longer. I also wish we'd had more reliable internet so I could have blogged as we went. As it is, I'll just work on catching up as I go back through pictures over the next several days. 

For now, I'm calling it a night. More soon!

Day 03: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Overnight Cruise (B/L/D) Our guide and shuttle bus will pick you up at lobby of hotel and start journey east to Halong Bay, through picturesque rice-farming villages of the Red River Delta, where we see every day Vietnamese village life. On arrival, we board a beautiful traditional junk and spend a full day and night cruising the bay’s 3000 magnificent limestone islets. In the evening when the boat is anchored in the middle of the stunning lagoon, we enjoy a wonderful seafood meal and later there is opportunity for an evening swim from the side of the boat. Spend the night on our luxurious boat Day 04: Halong – Hanoi – Fly to Da Nang (B/L) Wake up to tai chi on board, continue cruising amongst magnificent karst peakson the tranquil green waters of Halong Bay. Stay on the boat until returning to Hanoi for your flight to DA NANG. Upon arrival, you will be met by our guide and transfer to Hoi An – listed UNESCO world heritage site and overnight in Hoi An. Day 05: Cycling Tra Que – Walking Tour (B/Light Lunch) Cycling into the countryside to the small farming community of Tra Que Vegetable Village. Here you can enjoy the lush green countryside and see the farmers at work, later learn to make vietnamese spring roll and free on foot massage by herbs. Afternoon walking tour of charming Hoi An. A wonderfully laidback, graceful and wilfully traditional place, the streets of the town, lined with lantern shops and tailors, are a delight to wander especially as traffic is entirely banished from the town centre. Visit a lovely old house, still occupied by the descendants of the merchants who built it over 200 years ago, before seeing the elaborate Japanese Bridge, a Chinese temple, the bustling market Day 06: My Son – Tailor Made Clothes (B) Departs for My Son, My Son 70 km southwest of Da Nang, was the capital of the once almighty Champa Kingdom. It boasts a complex of ancient ruins that date back 1,700 years. This is the most complete example of ancient Champa ruins that Vietnam has maintained. Transfer back to Hoi An and free leisure on your own way. Overnight in Hoi An. Day 07: Hoi An – Da Nang – Fly to Ho Chi Minh (B/L) Free at leisure until transfer to airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh. Upon arrival Ho Chi Minh, you will be welcomed by our tour guide/ driver and transfer to hotel for check in. Afternoon, take a half-day excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels. At its height, the tunnel system stretched over 250km, from Saigon to the Cambodian border, and was three levels deep. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens. Today, the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction, giving you a unique experience and a feel of what underground life during the U.S.-Vietnam War must have been like. Back to the city for free shopping. Day 08: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta (B/L) Full day visit to the watery world of Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Take a boat trip to see stilt houses and fish farms and try exotic fruits in one of many orchards. Visit a local farmer on Turtle Island then board a sampan to glide along the narrow canals to get a glimpse of daily life on the Mekong Delta. Return to Saigon and free easy in your own way.
