Mekong Delta Le Jarai Cruise

Tour to Hue 3 Days

by mshuyen @ Vietnam tours

The UNESCO World Heritage town of Hue in central Vietnam is a must see destination. The eclectic and mesmerizing tombs and mausoleums of the last emperors of Vietnam reveal fascinating insights into the lives of the imperial families and their subjects. The ancient citadel reflects the pomp and ceremony of the dynastic rulers, as well as the scars of many years of turmoil, both ancient and modern (the Royal Citadel was badly damaged in the latter stages of the war). Even so, it retains a sense of grace and majesty even today.Modern Hue is a delightful city of wide boulevards and period buildings set in a picture-postcard landscape. The local university is renowned as one of the country's finest and the local cuisine is regarded by many as the best in Vietnam.

A Day Cruise in Mekong Delta - ALAN TOUR

ALAN TOUR

Today We will enjoy a relaxing day trip and cruise around the luxuriant Mekong delta on a variety of local transport and on the converted rice barge Le Jarai.  Sail through the broad waterways and small creeks of the Mekong river, enjoy a sumptuous three course lunch and see traditional rural life including a local village, coconut workshop  and traditional matt weaving at a local farmer’s house. Travel by road from Ho Chi Minh City to board a local boat at Ben Tre.  This less-visited area of the Mekong is home to luxuriant vegetation and lush coconut islands as well as orchards and rice paddies.  Visit a coconut processing workshop to discover how this fruit is treated to separate oil, flesh and husk.  Sample the coconut sweets which are a local speciality. After a further short journey through winding arroyos by local boat, take a short walking tour of a peaceful village in a relaxing creekside setting.  Discover traditional matt weaving by hand in a friendly local farmer’s house. Hop on a “xe loi”, the local tuk tuk, for a drive through the beautiful rice paddies of the Mekong countryside to the riverside where you will embark a small boat for your transfer to the converted rice barge Le Jarai. Cruise the mighty Mekong on the traditional wooden boat Le Jarai.  Enjoy a demonstration of authentic Vietnamese cooking and try your hand at preparing local treats before a delicious three-course lunch including Mekong specialties is served by the friendly and attentive crew.  Relax and soak up the scenery while sailing on the pleasant waterways back to Ben Tre before returning to Ho Chi Minh City by road.
