Food frames travelling, marketing each point set to rest, perceive and nourish. From the moment we taste something new, to the time we arrive home and tell everyone they “…have to try this!” We’ve kicked off on a food journey, and there’s no better place to try new food than Vietnam. One of the best things about Vietnam is the incredible street food; however a common anxiety is the fear of food poisoning. It’s a common misconception that street food will be sole cause for an upset tummy, resulting in discomfort and annoyance that can interrupt and ruin a day’s sightseeing. However, street food is the safest bet for fresh cuisine. A good rule of thumb is to follow where the locals eat. A dingy little food cart that serves noodles from a communal pot but is overflowing with customers and bustling with noise, is much more trustworthy than an expensive make shift Western restaurant in the main tourist district! Street food is so indicative of local delicacies, how foods are traditionally cooked and cheap-cheap in price! It’s a no-brainer you’ll have your best food experiences for $2 from a little cart on the side of a market street. If …

Leanne’s Journal: Krakow

by Busabout @ Blogabout

Ok, I’ll be honest and admit I knew next to nothing about Krakow before I came here. And if you’re reading this thinking about how it’s never really crossed your radar, I’m telling you this little town should be right up there on your European to-do list! Upon our visit, myself and many other passengers all agreed that if it wasn’t for the country being on the Busabout network, we wouldn’t have thought to check it out. And I couldn’t be more grateful that it was, because this city is, for lack of a more creative word, beautiful. Krakow is a culturally rich city that somehow managed to remain alive after the traumatic events of WWII. I am convinced it is a pure representation of the beauty that is Central Europe. On our first night, a group of us headed out with our Busabout guide Ciara to join in a traditional Polish meal at a local restaurant, Chłopskie Jadło. This was our first taste of authentic Polish food – and when I say ‘taste’ I mean feast, which had me rolling into food coma for only 12 euros. What To Eat And Drink When You Sail Croatia

by Georgia McGrath @ Blogabout

For a country so small, Croatia is bursting with an array of flavours and is the proud home to many mouthwatering dishes. Some originated in the country itself whilst others have been influenced by past links with numerous empires such as the Romans, Venetians, Greeks and Ottomans. Sailing along the Dalmatian coastline is the perfect opportunity to try lots of fresh seafood along with a Captain’s BBQ cooked onboard, and an optional excursion to try a traditional meal called Peka, paired with some local cheese and wine. Here are some of the tastiest things you can try on your sailing trip! Seafood Did you know that the fish in Croatia swim three times? Once in the sea, once in olive oil and once in wine. And a fourth if you include inside your belly. The whole west side of the country is coastline and a large part of the economy comes from fishing. Packing Cells Will Make Life Easier […]
